Bearing Block

Again made from 20x50mm steel this time 30mm long. Another part which would be much easier to make with a mill.

First faced all six sides to dimension in the four jaw independant, then marked out and centerpunched holes. The center was drilled and then bored, initially with a cemented carbide boring bar, and then finished off carefully with a sharp HSS boring bar, to get a good fit on the bearing (608).

The block was then turned in the chuck, centered on the existing bore with the the DTi, and then the second bearing bore turned.

The other holes were drilled, and the mounting holes counterbored, the four other tapped M4.
