I made the step pulley for the motor. Took me ages as it needed a keyway cut in the bore so I first had to modify the lathes old compound slide into a shaper attachment (Picture2 ). Shaping the blind bore wasn't easy as the chips tend to bunch up at the end and reduce the stroke.

It was quite impressive that the little 7X12 lathe could plunge a 3mm wide cut off tool into the 100mm diameter blank without chatter, or stalling. I had expected to make a hand crank to get enough torque at a low enough speed.
